Jeanette Marian Swann, 85, of Leavenworth, passed away January 11th, 2010 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 AM, Friday, January 15th, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Phil Winkelbauer officiating.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with the family present from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and a Rosary at 6:00 PM, at Belden Larkin Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Jeanette was born October 20th, 1924 in Wausau, Wisconsin, the daughter of John Gustav Ziegel and Ida Augusta Trebus Ziegel.
She moved to Leavenworth as a young girl and graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1942.
She married Maurice Michael Swann on April 19th, 1943 in Leavenworth; he passed away November 19th, 1998.
She worked for many years as a Secretary for Recreation Services at Fort Leavenworth, retiring in 1987.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Altar Society, Leavenworth Historical Society, and the St. John Hospital Guild.
Jeanette enjoyed and was very interested in politics, and she and Moe traveled extensively in Europe and the United States prior to his death.
She is survived by two sons: Michael and his wife Patricia of Leawood, Kansas; John and his wife Annette of Bethesda, Maryland. She is also survived by three daughters: Susan Hill and her husband Jim of Crewe, Virginia; Sarah Ketzel and her husband Chris of Bellevue, Washington; and Mary Heroux and her husband Michael of Kansas City, Missouri.
Jeanette is survived by six grandchildren: Todd Hill; Matthew, Helen, Jack, and Katie Swann; and Amelia Ketzel; as well as one great grandson, Patrick Hill.
She was preceded in death by one brother Chester Ziegel, and one sister Lorraine C. Hobbs.
