Leo J. Visocsky
Leo J. Visocsky Sr., 83, of Leavenworth passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at his residence.
Leo was born on February 2, 1936 in Omaha Nebraska to Steve J. and Edith B. (VanFleet) Visocsky. Leo served in the US Army from 1954 – 1956.
Leo met the love of his life Verda A. Shade and they were married in Leavenworth on August 24, 1957, celebrating 61 years of marriage. Together they had seven children, Leo Jr., Edward, Frances, Kenneth, Sherry, Brian, and Cynthia. Leo was employed for 25 years as a journeyman printer for the Leavenworth Times. Leo then worked in civil service for several years before retiring and moving to Arizona where they lived for 15 years before moving back to Kansas.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents, son Leo J. Visocsky Jr., daughter Cynthia Reed, and 9 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Verda of the home, Son Edward M. Visocsky, of Tennessee, Daughter Frances E. (Bruce) Smock of Leavenworth, son Kenneth Visocsky, of Leavenworth, Daughter Sherry (Greg) Zule of Easton, and son Brian K. (Julie) Visocsky of Ambler Alaska. Brothers Steve Visocsky and Dennis (Dorothy) Visocsky of Leavenworth. 15 Grandchildren and 35 Great Grandchildren.
A visitation will be Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at the funeral home at 4:00 to 8:00 pm, with a rosary to be said at 5:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. David McEvoy O.Carm, officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery at 12:30 pm.
