Brent V. Cooper Jr.

Brent V. Cooper Jr. was born in Rixeyville, Virginia, on May 3, 1950, to Brent V. Cooper, Sr., and Edna Iris (Hitt) Cooper.

He married Barbara Gail Eagan on February 2, 1980. They were blessed with two daughters, Brandie Cooper (Jason Henry) and Bethanie McLaughlin (Kyle).

Brent is survived by his wife, two daughters, and two brothers: Sandy Cooper of Culpeper, Virginia, and Kevin Cooper of Front Royal, Virginia.

Brent was very interested in history, especially military history. He spent many happy hours playing his beloved wargames. He was especially proud of his southern heritage and was a member of the local Sons of Confederate Veterans. Brent looked forward to their monthly meetings.

Brent was a great lover of all animals. When his daughters brought home stray kittens and puppies, they often would become part of the family.

Brandie and Bethanie, though 5 years apart in age, share the same fond memories of their father. Both remember dancing around the living room standing on their father’s shiny, black Army boots and going to Daddy/Daughter dances. Memories of their Dad’s homemade Chicken Fricassee and Lasagna will be etched on their minds forever.

The Cooper family were very close and did lots of things together. At each duty station, it was always a priority to visit local historical sites and nearby museums. Whether they were walking the streets of Paris or walking the halls of Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany, it was done together as a family.

Brent will be greatly missed by his family. Barbara will always be thankful that Brent showed his daughters what a husband and father is supposed to be. He set the standard for what to look for in a lifetime mate. In his final days, Brent saw that Brandie and Bethanie had chosen men that were loving and faithful to them…just as their mother had done 39 years earlier when she married him.

Gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at the funeral home from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. Memorials in his name may be forwarded to the American Cancer Society or ASPCA.
