Mary N. Reilly
Mary N. Reilly, 92, a lifelong resident of Leavenworth, passed away, Thursday, June 20,2019, at her home in the presence of her loving family.
Mary was born in Leavenworth on December 15, 1926, to Leo J. and Emily (Pisha) Whitlock. She graduated from Immaculata High School in 1945. On May 10, 1947, Mary was married at the old Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception to James E. Reilly, who passed away, June 15, 1979. She was also preceded in death by her oldest son, James E. (Jim) Reilly Jr., and her sister Martha B. Sparling.
Mary is survived by five of her six children, George L. Reilly and Timothy J. Reilly of the home, Mary Sue (David) Chartier and son Michael J. (Judy) Reilly of Lansing, Kan., Kathryn A. (Terry) Lowe of Basehor, Kan.; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Atkins Reilly of Leavenworth; a brother, Raymond (Lois) Whitlock of Tracy Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella. She was a homemaker and worked for a number of years after her husband's death at A & W Family Restaurant with her sons Jim and Tim. Mary loved to read, work puzzle books, travel with George, and spend time with her family. She will be lovingly remembered as a woman of unshakeable faith, a cherished Mom and Grandma, and a dear friend.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. with the Rosary prayed at 5:30 p.m, Friday, June 28, 2019, at Belden Larkin Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 29, 2019, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. David McEvoy, O. Carm, as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials to Sacred Heart-St. Casimir Parish, Immaculate Conception-St. Joseph Parish in Leavenworth, or to Holy Angels Catholic Church in Basehor, for the new Mary Queen of Angels Adoration Chapel, or the donor's choice.
