Ella Mae Biczak

Ella M. Biczak, 95, of Leavenworth passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Homestead Assisted Living.

She was born on January 28, 1924 in Leavenworth KS to William and Josephine (Nowowiejski) Ketter.  She attended Leavenworth schools and received her GED diploma at age 65.   On August 3, 1943 she married Charles (Charlie) Biczak at St. Casimir’s church.   He preceded her in death.  


She is survived by her daughters Helen and husband Wes Stillian and Mary and husband John Kersten Jr. all of Leavenworth.   Four Grandchildren, Mary Therese Stillian Foster and husband Michael, Lenexa KS, Kristina Marie Kersten Meseke and husband Michael, Winfield KS, Charles Stillian and wife Leslie, Garden City KS, and Janet Marie Kersten Moorehead and husband Chuck, Lansing KS. Six great grandchildren, Wyatt Michael Meseke, Brett Caroline Stillian, Mitchell Ryly Moorehead, Charles Alexander Stillian, Ella Elizabeth Meseke, and Jackson Charles Moorhead.  A special niece Shirley Cook and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles, parents, two sisters Ann Derzinski and Eva Conway and brother, Robert Ketter.


Ella worked at Bell Laundry, the Glove Factory before she married.  She was a wonderful loving Mother and homemaker.   She was a lifetime member of St. Casimir church, St. Casimir Altar Society, St. Johns Guild (making thousands of Teddy Bears for the sick children), AARP, NARFE, Friendship Club, Schaafskoff Club, Fraternity of Eagles #55 auxiliary, VFW auxiliary #56, American Legion auxiliary, Retired Eagles Activity Club.   Enjoyed going on trips with Rainbow Express and playing cards.


Visitation will be on Thursday, June 6, 2019 5:00 to 8:00 pm with a prayer service at 6:30 pm at the funeral home.  A Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, June 7, 2019 at 10:00 am at St. Casimir Catholic Church with Father Marianand Mendem, officiating.  Burial will be at Mt. Calvary cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in her name to Lansing Alumni Scholarship Fund or St. Casimir Altar Society. 


A special thank you to Dr. Christiano, Valorie Watts and all their wonderful staff of Faith Home Care, Compassionate Care Hospice, and Homestead Assisted Living staff for the excellent care you gave to our Mother.   Mom was an Angel and she will be greatly missed and loved forever.
